Mr William Matthews is a fellowship-trained Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at West Suffolk Hospital. His practice encompasses a wide range of elective and trauma hand and wrist surgery, with a particular interest in nerve decompression, arthritis, and trauma. After graduating with distinction in Clinical Sciences from King’s College London, Mr Matthews completed higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics within the East of England Deanery. He subsequently undertook two prestigious fellowships in Hand Surgery — the BSSH Training Interface Group Fellowship at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and a Senior Clinical Fellowship at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire — gaining extensive experience in both orthopaedic and plastic reconstructive techniques in hand and wrist surgery. Mr Matthews has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented nationally and internationally on topics including scaphoid fracture management and outcomes following hand surgery. He has been actively involved in research as part of the Orthopaedic Research Collaborative East Anglia (ORCA) and has contributed to national studies. Committed to education and leadership, he regularly teaches on cadaveric hand and wrist workshops and FRCS preparation courses. Mr Matthews adopts an evidence-based and patient-centred approach, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to restore function and improve quality of life.
