Academic Background
Mr Cato-Addison brings a unique academic foundation to his clinical practice. He began his career by earning a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Bristol, where he developed a strong analytical and problem-solving skill set. He was subsequently awarded a prestigious Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) scholarship to pursue an MSc in Parallel Computation at the University of Edinburgh — a background that gives him a valuable technical and data-driven perspective in his surgical planning and decision-making.
Following his interest in medicine, he completed his pre-clinical medical training with distinction and graduated with an honours degree in Medicine from the School of Medicine at the University of Southampton.
Specialist Surgical Training
Mr Cato-Addison completed his neurosurgical training in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, gaining extensive experience in managing complex cranial and spinal cases. He then undertook the prestigious Depuy Fellowship, a joint Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Spinal Fellowship, at three of London’s leading centres of excellence:
• The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
• Evelina Children’s Hospital
• Guy’s Hospital
This advanced fellowship enabled him to further refine his expertise in both adult and paediatric spinal surgery, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and adopting cutting-edge techniques in spinal care.
