About William Britnell

Personal Profile

Mr William Britnell grew up in Bletchingley, Surrey. He studied at The Warwick School Comprehensive in Redhill, and his undergraduate medicine degree was awarded from Manchester University, with placements in Stoke-on-Trent and Shrewsbury. He spent his elective placement in Long Island, New York. 

Will’s first Job as a Junior Doctor was on the Urology Ward at Wycombe Hospital, where the team there inspired his love of Urology. He completed his core surgical training in Birmingham and Warwickshire working in Vascular, General and Plastic Surgery and then spent six years as a Urology Registrar in the Oxford Deanery.

During his Urology training he spent time in rural Uganda, teaching local surgeons keyhole procedures to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Will has an interest in Core Urology, urethral stricture disease and Andrology. Will was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon In Worthing in 2019.

Will’s research and publications have included work on dermatoses of the foreskin and management of rare bladder diseases. His wife is a local teacher and housemistress and they live in Lancing with their son and daughter. They enjoy cycling, walking and travelling.
