Dr Wei Chuen Liong is an experienced Consultant Radiologist specialising in advanced imaging and interventional radiology. He works at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and also provides specialist care at The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden, where he supports patients through accurate diagnosis and minimally invasive image-guided procedures.
Dr Liong has a broad range of expertise across radiology, with particular specialist interests in interventional radiology, neuroradiology, cardiac imaging, and gynaecological imaging and intervention. He has extensive experience using advanced imaging techniques, including cardiac MRI and CT angiography, helping clinicians diagnose and manage complex conditions with greater accuracy.
He graduated from the University of Malaysia with a First Class Honours degree and was awarded University Gold Medals in recognition of his academic achievements. He completed his radiology training at the National University of Malaysia and Malaya University, developing a strong foundation in diagnostic imaging and patient care.
Following his specialist training, Dr Liong undertook further advanced training in Interventional Radiology in Nottingham, England, gaining expertise in image-guided treatments and minimally invasive procedures. His combination of specialist training and many years of clinical experience allows him to provide high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Liong is actively involved in research and education. His research interests include the development of new vascular intervention techniques and improvements in minimally invasive treatments. He also plays an important role in training the next generation of specialists, sharing his knowledge and experience with Oxford Interventional Radiology Fellows and Radiology Registrars.
Dr Liong is committed to maintaining the highest standards in radiology and keeping up to date with advances in medical imaging and treatment techniques. His expertise, dedication to education, and focus on patient-centred care make him a valued specialist within both NHS and private healthcare.
He is a member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Radiologists and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).
