During his time at University Hospital of South Manchester, Professor Bhatti organised and directed the first comprehensive musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging service in Manchester, including the introduction of the first dedicated finger ultrasound service.
He has been a Consultant at the Manchester Foundation Trust since 2001, and is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Salford and Visiting Professor of Sports Radiology at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work in sports science includes services to Manchester Premier League football teams, County Cricket team, North West Rugby Teams, British Cycling and Taekwondo, and he was also the North West Radiology Representative to the Olympics teams, based in the North West in 2012, and Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in August, 2018.
His research has been recognised internationally through many prizes, including a Cum Laude from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) for work presented on Ultrasound of Finger Flexor Tendon Imaging. His current research includes adopting stem cells for clinical use, and new platelet- rich plasma (PRP) therapies for use in the treatment of osteoarthritis.
