About Dr Vivek Chhaya

Personal Profile

Dr Vivek Chhaya is an experienced Gastroenterologist who can diagnose bowel and liver disorders at Goring Hall Hospital. He has access to a JAG accredited endoscopy unit ensuring a high standard investigation for bowel conditions including OGD (endoscopy). Colonoscopy amongst other investigations. 

He completed his undergraduate training at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London School of Medicine, University of London in 2005 whilst also attaining a first class with honours in Biomedical Engineering. After completing general medical training and gaining membership to the Royal College of Physicians, he undertook specialist training in Gastroenterology in the South Thames region.

Having worked at some of London's most prestigious institutions such as St Batholomew's Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital, Dr Chhaya undertook a higher degree at St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London and was awarded an MD in 2016. He has published over 20 articles in international peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals and continues to have an active role in research and conference proceedings.

Dr Chhaya is currently a substantive Consultant with expertise in gastrointestinal disorders and advanced endoscopy.  He has helped transform the IBD service in his NHS post and has a supervisory role in medical education.  He currently sits on the specialist training committee for Gastroenterology in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.  He is fully accredited in diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, undertakes advanced endoscopy in the form of oesophageal and enteral stenting, ERCP and biliary stenting, EUS and biopsy, and the removal of polyps. His clinical interests include dyspepsia and reflux, IBS and alternations in bowel habits, Crohn’s and colitis, GI cancers, pancreatic and liver disorders

He has an active role in medical education supervising junior doctors and Gastroenterology trainees. He regularly teaches on JAG accredited endoscopy course. He is the cancer lead at Worthing Hospital for Oesophageal, gastric, pancreatic and biliary cancers.
