Mr Prasad studied at both St Andrews University in Scotland and also Manchester University. His basic surgical training was undertaken around Manchester before gaining entry into the South West Thames rotation. Throughout his training he had a strong interest in spinal surgery and so he tailored his rotation towards spine, working with most of the spinal consultants on the South West Thames rotation.
He accumulated three years of experience in degenerative, tumour and trauma surgery and consolidated his training with a 12-month fellowship in adult and paediatric deformity, as well as complex revision surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, a specialist orthopaedic hospital located in Stanmore in the London Borough of Harrow.
He was then appointed as a locum spinal consultant for 16 months at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, to continue to develop his skills to the highest standard. As a result of his focused spinal training he has been involved in over 400 anterior and posterior scoliosis operations, 165 lumbar decompression and fusions, 130 lumbar decompressions, 50 cervical procedures and 60 trauma and tumour cases.
His specialist areas include degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine; minimally invasive spinal surgery – XLIF, kyphoplasty, trauma; adult deformity assessment.
