Personal Profile

Dr Vikram Sharma works as a consultant Hepatologist at Royal London Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust), a top London Teaching Hospital. He completed his gastroenterology and hepatology training from the prestigious North East Thames rotation.

Dr Sharma’s clinical practice covers a broad range of liver disease including managing patients with alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis. He has expertise in managing patient with autoimmune liver disease and disease of the bile duct.

He is the lead clinical liver specialist for inpatients admitted under hepatology at Royal London Hospital. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, he manages patients based on national standards. As a highly skilled endoscopist, he specialises in upper GI endoscopy.

While at Royal Free Hospital as a senior liver registrar, he gained valuable experience in managing complex liver patients, including patients with liver transplants. This led him to develop a specialist interest in patients with advanced liver disease including complication related to cirrhosis.

As part of his academic work, he has published in a wide range of peer reviewed distinguished journals and presented in many national and international conferences. He has also been actively involved in several multicentric trials including establishing them. He is a member of the European Association of Study of the Liver.

As a doctor, Dr Sharma's ethos is listening and delivering compassionate and safe care to his patients. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his young family and be involved in social entrepreneurship projects.
