Dr Mahesh's extensive training journey includes a medical degree from Bangalore University in 2000, followed by 12 years of specialized training in the UK. He further honed his skills through an Advanced Interventional Endoscopy Fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia and advanced nutrition training at the Intestinal Failure Unit in Salford, UK.
Since becoming a consultant in 2012, Dr Mahesh has been a key provider of advanced endoscopy services at Royal Blackburn Hospital, where he also serves as the lead clinician for nutritional-related issues, a very busy endoscopy service and Upper GI cancer. His expertise encompasses a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including EUS, ERCP, EMR, stent placement, and feeding tube insertion. He also leads therapeutic endoscopy for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network, has received 'Extra Mile - Individual' and 'Best Trainer/Educator' award 2025 from the Lancashire and South Cumbria network.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Mahesh is a respected figure in medical education and innovation. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Buckingham University and holds pivotal roles in national organizations, including as a Medical Performance Assessor for the General Medical Council and National QI Lead for Endoscopic Ultrasound for the British Society of Gastroenterology. He is passionate about patient empowerment and provides guidance on gut health, immune function, and personalized nutrition through his online platforms. Dr. Mahesh combines his vast expertise with empathy, ensuring every patient receives comprehensive, holistic care.
