About Ugochukwu Ihedioha
Personal Profile
Mr Ugochukwu Ihedioha is a Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon with specialist expertise in the management of bowel cancer and pelvic floor disorders. He studied Medicine at the University of Calabar, Nigeria, graduating in 1999 before moving to the United Kingdom to continue his surgical training.
His basic surgical training was undertaken in Glasgow between 2002 and 2004. During this time, he developed a strong interest in colorectal surgery and research. He subsequently carried out research in Glasgow and Leicester investigating factors influencing the implementation of enhanced recovery programmes in colorectal surgery, for which he was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine (MD).
Mr Ihedioha completed his higher specialist training in the East Midlands, finishing in August 2014. During this period, he undertook specialist training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery for both bowel cancer and benign colorectal conditions in Leicester and Northampton.

This additional specialist training further developed his expertise in managing complex pelvic floor disorders and complemented his established experience in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital, where he supports both the laparoscopic colorectal cancer service and enhanced recovery programmes for surgical patients across Northamptonshire.
