Personal profile

Dr Tsui Ling qualified in 1992 in the UK and obtained her membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997. She then undertook a fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012.

She trained as a Dermatologist in Greater Manchester and obtained her specialist training certificate in 2005, and has been a NHS Consultant Dermatologist since 2005. She currently works at the Northern Care Alliance (Salford Royal Foundation Trust, NHS) in addition to private practice at the Beaumont Hospital.

Dr Ling is experienced in managing a wide range of dermatological conditions, including: general dermatology; psoriasis; eczema and dermatitis; acne (including prescription of Isotretinoin); rosacea; moles and other benign and malignant skin lesions; solar damage; skin warts; cryotherapy; skin cancers; inflammatory skin disorders; hair and nail disorders; disorders of skin pigmentation; genital skin disorders; keloid scars; phototherapy (treatment of skin diseases with ultraviolet therapy) and photosensitivity disorders (sun sensitivity).

Dr Ling obtained an MD in Photodermatology with the University of Manchester in 2009.

She actively participates in undergraduate and post-graduate training, including Dermatology and GP trainees.

She was previously interviewed in a Channel 5 series, 'Medical Mysteries', on a rare photosensitivity condition.

Clinical interests

Subspecialty expertise is in the phototherapy of various skin conditions, such as:

  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Vitiligo
  • Hand and foot skin disease
  • Investigation of photosensitivity disorders

She is the main author of the British Association of Dermatologists' guidelines on Phototherapy.
