About Dr Timothy Gray

Personal Profile

Dr Gray qualified from Cambridge University and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, completing House Jobs locally. He spent 2 years as a Senior House Officer in Southampton before returning to spend 2 years as a Research Registrar, investigating treatments for refractory angina.

After this, he headed up to the Manchester area to complete 6 years of Specialist Registrar Training and successfully started his Consultant post in The Royal Oldham Hospital in 2007.

He has subsequently moved his NHS base to Fairfield Hospital in Bury whilst still working for the same Trust to be close to the cardiac catheter labs, and progressed up from Clinical Lead, to Clinical Director, Divisional Clinical Director and now Medical Director for Bury Care Organisation.

Dr Gray remains committed to his patients and prides himself on providing personal, patient-orientated care with safety and evidence at the core of all decisions and recommendations. He is active in teaching and continues to train junior doctors both on the wards and in the catheter lab.

He is confident in the use of all types of adjunctive investigations and treatments to ensure the best chances of successful treatment outcome, including the use of pressure wire, intravascular imaging, coronary atherectomy (rotablation) and shockwave therapy. He successfully brought all of these technologies into the Fairfield Catheter labs, and continues to use them regularly both in the NHS and privately.

In addition to the interventional work, Dr Gray sees general cardiology patients in outpatients and on the wards. He enjoys the variety from this, and enjoys talking to his patients and explaining options for investigations and treatments best suited to the situation and patient. He is happy to see any patients with cardiology problems or symptoms.
