Mr Dudderidge sees insured and self-funding patients and can see self-referred patients for second opinions or those who are seeking more information about their prostate health.
Tim takes a holistic approach to the care of men with prostate disorders and general urological conditions. He is an expert in diagnosing all urological malignancies and handling common urological disorders. He has a friendly approach and is keen to meet patients with their partners and families if that is preferred. The feedback Tim receives from patients about his thoroughness, manner in clinic and his expertise with surgical procedures is excellent. Much of this is evident on websites such as Top Doctors and Doctify.
Mr Dudderidge initially developed his expertise as a urological cancer specialist but given his particular interest in prostate cancer now mainly deals with this condition. Tim is an expert in prostate MRI and image fusion biopsy under ultrasound guidance. He is an expert in robotic prostatectomy, minimally invasive treatments like high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and cryotherapy. He is also a great advocate of active surveillance of men with lower risk disease that does not necessarily benefit from treatment.
Tim works within the multi-disciplinary team both at Southampton General Hospital as well as with The Focal Therapy Clinic, working with other experts across the UK to deliver precision diagnostics and focal treatments.
Tim trained in urology in the major London teaching hospitals and was one of the first uro-oncology fellows sponsored by the Royal College of Surgeons. He was one of the first to be trained in robotic surgery – completing this training in 2011. Having worked as a locum consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital undertaking a wide range of cancer procedures, Tim was subsequently appointed as a urological consultant in Southampton General Hospital, eventually focusing exclusively on prostate cancer. Tim is responsible for the training of robotic surgeons, HIFU and cryotherapy practitioners. He has an international reputation for his skills and expertise in this area.
Tim has a strong academic interest and is the principal investigator for the majority of prostate cancer trials at Southampton General Hospital. He has recruited over 1300 patients since his appointment and the trials he has been involved with have led to major changes in practice across the UK and worldwide. He has a large number of publications relating to this work and copies of these publications relating to the particular treatments he offers can be requested.
Tim continues to enjoy his practice helping men identify the best treatments to suit their circumstances. Each patient is different and it is this uniqueness that can often seem like a factory line process of diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer that continues to make the job so interesting, exciting and rewarding.
