Mr Sweed is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in knee surgery and lower limb sports injuries. His NHS practice is at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. His elective practice covers all areas of knee surgery with a special interest in knee osteotomies (realignment surgery), partial and total knee replacement, and ligament reconstruction.

Mr Sweed graduated from medical school at Alexandria University in Egypt in 2001. He completed his orthopaedic training at Alexandria University and moved to the UK in 2013. He obtained his FRCS Trauma and Orthpaedics in 2016 and has since completed specialist fellowship training in knee surgery at several prestigious institutions, including:

Mr Sweed is passionate about teaching and cofounded the Birmingham Knee School (BKS). BKS runs a yearly course for trainees and knee fellows aiming for the dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge and skills, promoting innovation and expertise in the field of knee surgery.

Mr Sweed is married and has 2 children. Interests outside of work include football, squash and photography.
