He qualified from Guy's and St Thomas Hospitals Medical School, with postgraduate training at Guy’s, King's College, Royal Brompton, Chelsea and Westminster and Hammersmith Hospitals, London.
His PhD into mechanisms of microvascular dysfunction in sepsis at the National Heart and Lung Institute, London and further subspecialty training (sleep medicine, ventilation, interstitial lung disease, and advanced bronchoscopy) in respiratory medicine were at the Royal Brompton Hospital between 1995 and 2002. His research has attracted a national award (NIAA) for investigation of biomarkers in the early diagnosis of pneumonia.
He is lead clinician for Sleep Medicine, Director of Clinical Studies for undergraduate medicine, local Educational Training Supervisor in Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine, Secretary of the British Thoracic Society Interventional Pulmonology Special Advisory Group, Faculty of the International Advanced Bronchoscopy Course (Royal Brompton Hospital), and Respiratory Physician to a Regional Bariatric Surgical Service; He has published widely and lectures internationally in respiratory, Sleep and critical care disorders.
He consults in all aspects of respiratory disease, and sleep disorders.
