Dr Sushen Bhattacharyya is a highly respected Consultant Physician specialising in General and Geriatric Medicine. He has been based at Northwick Park Hospital since 2006 and also sees private patients at BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital and St John & St Elizabeth Hospital in London.

Dr Bhattacharyya qualified in 1989 in India, graduating with multiple honours and several Gold Medals. He went on to complete his specialist training in Hertfordshire and at St Mary’s Hospital, London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

With over three decades of medical experience, Dr Bhattacharyya has established himself as a leader in both acute and general medicine. He provides expert care for adults with a wide range of complex medical conditions, often managing multiple chronic illnesses at once. His NHS practice includes heading the award-winning Orthogeriatrics service, which supports older patients with co-existing medical and orthopaedic needs. This service has been recognised for delivering safe, effective, and high-performing care.

Dr Bhattacharyya adopts a holistic approach to medicine, particularly in the treatment of conditions such as frailty, falls, syncope (fainting), drop attacks, stroke rehabilitation, and perioperative care. He works closely with patients and their families to ensure care plans are clearly communicated, timely, and aligned with the patient's individual needs and preferences. He serves as Course Director for the IMPACT course across the Northwest London Hospitals NHS Trust and remains actively involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors. His contributions to education have earned him multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards from Imperial College London, where he has also been recognised for his work in innovation, research, and development.

Dr Bhattacharyya has been the recipient of several NHS Clinical Excellence Awards for his leadership, innovation, and outstanding patient care. His passion for continual improvement and education ensures he remains at the forefront of medical practice.

Outside of his professional life, Dr Bhattacharyya has a deep appreciation for both Western and Eastern classical music. He is a cricket enthusiast, previously playing as a middle-order batsman and off-spin bowler. He is married and a proud father to two daughters.
