About Mr Surya Narayan

Personal Profile

Mr Surya Narayan has been working as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Royal Blackburn Hospital and at the The Beardwood Hospital since 2011. He did his medical graduation and postgraduate ‘Masters in ENT’ in India. He then completed specialist training in Otolaryngology (ENT Surgery) in the Liverpool Mersey Deanery training programme, obtaining ‘Completion Certificate of Specialist Training’ by the UK Joint Committee on Higher Surgical Training. He has also undertaken a visiting fellowship to the House ear Institute in California and the Causse Ear Clinic in France. He is on the GMC Specialist Register with Licence to practice.

Mr Narayan offers consultation and treatment in all aspects of ENT Surgery including Ear, Nose and Sinus symptoms, Throat and Neck symptoms, Voice and Swallowing disorders as well as diagnostic work up for Head and Neck Cancer. 

He specialises in Ear surgery, including surgical treatment for ear infections with perforation or Cholesteatoma, Hearing improvement (Glue ear, Ossiculoplasty & Stapedotomy for Otosclerosis) and Dizziness (Meniere's Disease). He has particular interest in surgical treatment of nose and sinus diseases. 

Mr Narayan is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the ‘MCh ENT’ post-graduate Course at the Edge Hill University in Liverpool and for the Medical Education at the University of Central Lancashire. He is the ENT Clinical Governance Lead at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS trust and chairs the Head and Neck patient safety and risk assessment meetings regularly.  He is also an Educational Supervisor for Junior Doctors and Trust Specialty Training Lead. 

Nationally, Mr Narayan has held the positions of 'North west representative of ENTUK Council at London' and 'Regional Specialty Professional Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England', both from 2014 to 2018. He has also undertaken a number of research projects, published widely in peer reviewed journals and presented numerous times at National and International conferences. 

Outside of work, Mr Narayan enjoys painting pictures, badminton, swimming, long walks and treks.

    • Management of Nose and sinus symptoms (Nasal obstruction, Bleeding, Runny nose, Facial Pain, Head ache, Allergy and Smell disorders, Nasal Polyps, Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery)
    • Cosmetic surgery of ear and nose
    • Management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea,
    • Management of voice symptoms, throat symptoms, Tonsillectomy, Swallowing disorders
    • Head and Neck cancer work up (Sore throat, Hoarse Voice, Neck Lump, Swallowing difficulty, Bleeding, Neck Lumps)
