Mr Steven Kyriacou is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of Shoulder & Elbow and Hand & Wrist conditions. He provides expert care for both routine and complex problems, combining the latest evidence-based techniques with an individualised approach to patient care. 

Mr Kyriacou graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School before completing higher Orthopaedic training across London and the East Midlands. He subsequently undertook a series of prestigious Fellowship appointments at internationally recognised centres, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), King's College Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. These Fellowships provided advanced dual-subspecialty training in both Shoulder & Elbow and Hand & Wrist surgery as well as complex Upper Limb trauma. 

His practice encompasses the full spectrum of both Shoulder & Elbow and Hand & Wrist disorders, including rotator cuff disease and tears, shoulder instability and recurrent dislocation, frozen shoulder, arthritis, nerve compression syndromes, Dupuytren’s disease and inflammation of the tendons around the elbow, hand and wrist. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, shoulder stabilisation, rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, fracture fixation and reconstructive surgery of the upper limb. 

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Kyriacou maintains a strong academic interest in Upper Limb surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading Orthopaedic journals and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings.  

Committed to maintaining the highest standards of surgical practice, Mr Kyriacou has been awarded several prestigious national and international travelling fellowships, including the Watanabe Travelling Fellowship, the British Orthopaedic Association Zimmer Reconstructive Upper Limb Travelling Fellowship and the ESSKA Smith & Nephew International Arthroscopy Travelling Fellowship. These travelling fellowships provided Mr Kyriacou the opportunity to further develop his clinical practice by visiting and learning from multiple internationally renowned surgeons, involved in pioneering the most contemporary surgical techniques. 

Teaching and training form an important part of his professional practice. Mr Kyriacou holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from University College London and is a Faculty Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is actively involved in the training of Orthopaedic Resident trainees and regularly teaches on regional training programmes and national courses. 

He is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).
