About Srikanth Gandavaram

Srikanth Reddy Gandavaram Personal Profile

Mr. Srikanth Gandavaram is a substantive Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in the NHS, based in Lancaster. He specializes in advanced sports knee surgery as well as complex knee and hip replacement surgery. Appointed as an NHS Consultant in February 2024, Mr Gandavaram brings a wealth of specialized expertise to his clinical practice. His clinical philosophy is firmly centred on delivering precise, evidence-based, and results-oriented care to help his patients recover quickly and return safely to the activities they love.

Mr. Gandavaram began his professional journey in Bangalore, India, where he completed comprehensive orthopaedic training and was awarded his Master of Surgery (MS) in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Seeking to broaden his clinical horizons and master complex surgical techniques, he relocated to the United Kingdom, significantly developing and expanding his clinical expertise across the North West region of England.

During this period of extensive training, Mr. Gandavaram successfully completed his formal surgical membership and fellowship examinations, earning his credentials with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Committed to academic excellence and clinical mastery, he also achieved an MCh research degree from Edge Hill University, working in close association with the prestigious Wrightington Hospital.

To further refine his technical expertise in knee surgery, Mr. Gandavaram completed a fellowship at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. This elite placement has provided him with extensive, high-volume experience in the modern management of sports-related knee injuries, as well as joint preservation techniques, total knee, and partial (unicondylar) knee replacements.

In his private practice, Mr. Gandavaram offers a comprehensive range of treatments tailored to hip and knee conditions. This includes minimally invasive arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery, ligament reconstructions, patellar (knee cap) stabilisation, and targeted joint preservation therapies (such as orthobiologic and biological injections). For advanced joint degeneration, he specializes in high-precision total hip replacements, total knee replacements, and partial (unicondylar) knee replacements—all designed to restore long-term mobility and get patients back to an active lifestyle.

Parallel to his clinical commitments, Mr. Gandavaram is an active researcher and currently serves as audit lead within the NHS. He has published widely on various topics related to trauma and orthopaedics in peer-reviewed journals. His published research focuses heavily on hip, knee, and soft tissue knee surgeries. Mr. Gandavaram is actively involved in advancing the field and has presented at numerous national and international conferences. Demonstrating his steadfast commitment to clinical innovation, he serves as the Principal Investigator at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary for the major multicentre "HIPPY trial".

As a dedicated educator, Mr. Gandavaram is passionate about training and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. He acts as a clinical supervisor and thoroughly enjoys his role in teaching medical students and junior doctors.
