Dr Sreekanth Vasireddy is a Consultant Rheumatologist.
Dr Vasireddy did specialist training in Rheumatology in the Manchester Rotation receiving an MSc (Univ of Manchester). He won a fellowship and did subspecialist training and research in metabolic bone diseases / osteoporosis at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Metabolic Bone Diseases, Sheffield, gaining an MD (Univ of Sheffield).
He has been a Consultant Rheumatologist with a special interest in osteoporosis / bone health in Bolton NHS Trust since 2005 (Clinical Lead 2012-2024). In collaboration with primary care, he introduced the Direct Access DXA referral pathway in 2009, and the Osteoporosis Assessment & Treatment Pathway in 2018 for the Bolton district. He established databases for zoledronate and denosumab (injectable osteoporosis treatments), and facilitated the pathways for their delivery in the Bolton district. He also introduced in-clinic ultrasound in Bolton NHS Rheumatology clinics, and continues to do ultrasound regularly to diagnose and manage joint conditions eg knee osteoarthritis / inflammatory arthritis etc.
He is very approachable, has a holistic approach to clinical practice, and routinely incorporates appropriate advice on life-style and non-pharmaceutical measures in his management.
He is a published author including original scientific articles and several scientific and quality-improvement abstracts. He is a higher medical education trainer, continuing to train undergraduate and post-graduate medical trainees.
