Dr Kansra is a Consultant Paediatrician specialising in conditions affecting the airways and breathing in children. He has special interest in chronic cough, recurrent chest infections, asthma, respiratory allergies, breathlessness, aero-digestive disorders and cystic fibrosis in children and young persons.

He qualified from Maulana Azad Medical College (Delhi University), one of the premier medical schools in India, followed by a post-graduate (MD) in Paediatrics from Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

He trained further in Paediatrics and Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in the UK, and has trained in several big centres like Great Ormond Street Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals. Upon completion of speciality training (CCT) in Paediatrics and a sub-specialty of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in 2013, he took up his NHS Consultant job in the speciality in 2013 at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. He looks after children with all types of breathing problems and leads the difficult to treat asthma service at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Dr Kansra is actively engaged in research and has published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented in many national and international conferences. At the national level, he is also involved in speciality training in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and is a Training Advisor on the Respiratory CSAC Committee of the RCPCH. He sees paediatric patients with respiratory problems privately at Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield.
