After graduation, Dr Khan completed her general medical training in a wide range of specialities before being awarded a Specialist Registrar Training Number. Her training rotated through The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London, which is the UK's largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. She was appointed there as a Consultant.
She has been working in neurology with the NHS for almost 20 years and as an NHS Consultant Neurologist for over a decade. Throughout this time, she has gained extensive experience in diagnosing and treating patients with neurological conditions.
Dr Khan has published in peer reviewed journals. She has a great passion for teaching and is strongly committed to education and training. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students, junior doctors as well as consultants. Educational leadership roles have included being Programme Director for The Post Graduate Diploma for Physician Associate Studies, as well as Clinical and Educational Supervisor for Core Medical Trainees.
Dr Khan has a patient-centred approach in her consultations. Her interests include management of headache, parasomnias, epilepsy, blackouts, restless legs syndrome, sensory disturbance, sleep disorders, circadian rhythm disorders, narcolepsy, excessive sleepiness, REM behaviour disorder, disorders of sleep in Parkinson’s disease, and periodic limb movement disorder.
