Miss Siobhan O’Ceallaigh qualified in Medicine fromUniversity College Dublin in 1996. Following early plastic surgical training in Ireland, she moved to Manchester in 2002 to undergo a research fellowship at The University of Manchester. Following the awarding of her doctoral thesis in 2005, she commenced higher surgical training in plastic and cosmetic surgery in the North West training region.
Following awarding of the FRCS (plast) fellowship in Plastic Surgery, she became a National Oncoplastic Breast fellow where she undertook her fellowship at the renowned Nottingham Breast Institute, learning about the management of all aspects of breast cancer treatment, as well as refining skills in breast reconstruction and aesthetics. She also undertook a National Cosmetic Surgery Training fellowship in Nottingham.
On awarding of her Certificate of Specialist training and entry onto the specialist register in Plastic Surgery, Miss O'Ceallaigh was appointed as a Plastic and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle in May 2012, before returning to Manchester to take up a breast reconstruction post at Wythenshawe Hospital in June 2013.
She specialises in microsurgical breast reconstruction (DIEP, including stacked and bipedicled DIEPs, TRAM, SIEA, TUG flaps) and other complex and revisional breast surgery. She also specialises in the treatment of developmental breast asymmetry and all aspects of breast reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
