Personal Profile

Dr Shweta Bhagat trained in the East of England and obtained her specialist certification in Rheumatology in Feb 2011. Dr Bhagat has a full time post as consultant rheumatologist at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. 

She runs general rheumatology clinics at West Suffolk Hospital as well as the peripheral clinics in keeping with the principles of ‘care closer to home’ for our patients. Dr Bhagat manages patients with rheumatoid arthritis, early inflammatory arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, PMR, GCA, osteoporosis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren’s syndrome, and other rheumatologic conditions on a daily basis. 

She has a special interest in all kinds of inflammatory arthritis, musculoskeletal ultrasound, polymyalgia rheumatica, connective tissue diseases and joint injections. Dr Shweta Bhagat enjoys being involved in research, and member of the hospital’s Research Operational Committee. She is also an investigator for several commercial and non-commercial portfolio clinical trials.
