Mr Aithal completed his higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in the Mersey Deanery and North West deanery, during which period he obtained the MCh Orthopaedic degree from the University of Liverpool. Mr Aithal obtained fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery in the North West Deanery and was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery in 2008.
Mr Aithal has held academic positions in India and is currently a Visiting Faculty at the Kastruba Medical College, Manipal University in India. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. He is actively involved in medical education and training of orthopaedic surgeons.
Mr Aithal provides evidence based treatment of all foot and ankle disorders, including operative and non-operative management. These include treatment for forefoot disorders such as bunions, hammer toes, Morton's neuroma, arthritis of toe joints. He also provides treatment for a variety of disorders of the midfoot, hindfoot and ankle such as arthritis, tendon dysfunction, flatfoot deformity.
