About Mr Shaun Appleton

Personal Profile

Mr Appleton is a Consultant General Surgeon with an interest in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. He qualified from University College and Middlesex Hospital School of Medicine in London in 1989. He did most of his training in and around London including at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, the Royal Marsden Hospital and Hammersmith Hospitals.

 

He was appointed a consultant in 2002 at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. He has built up an extensive NHS practice in elective surgery at Wycombe Hospital and emergency surgery at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and a private practice at The Chiltern and The Shelburne Hospitals.

 

He has a keen interest in training. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the National Specialist Advisory Committee for General Surgery, the lead for National Selection which is responsible for selecting surgical trainees for specialist training. He has also been training Programme Director for General Surgery in Thames Valley.
