Mr. Shashi Irukulla is a consultant Upper GI & Bariatric Surgeon; he runs private clinics at The Runnymede Hospital in Chertsey, and The Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. He is the Divisional Director for General Surgery/Anesthesia/Critical Care and Theatres at Ashford & St.Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust. He was appointed as a Consultant in 2010. He is an experienced laparoscopic surgeon with a special interest in weight loss surgery. He performed first weight loss surgery and set up upper GI physiology lab at the trust
Mr. Irukulla completed his surgical training in the UK & Australia. He finished advanced bariatric surgery training at St. Georges Hospital, London. He has learned various laparoscopic and endoscopic weight loss procedures at Strasburg, Vienna and Hamburg. . He is passionate about developing and improving services at the trust. He is one of the very few specialists who perform endoscopic weight loss surgery procedures. He has set up Complex Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair services at the trust. He practices surgery by putting the patient at the Centre and strongly believes in shared and informed decision process.
