After completing Specialist Orthopaedic training at Bristol, Leicester, Edinburgh and Manchester regions, Mr Shashi (Shash) Garg has been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon (Ankle, Hip and Knee Replacement surgeon) and Foot & Ankle specialist with a special interest in image guided ankle replacement, drop foot surgery, sport injuries and shock wave therapy at The Lancaster Hospital and NHS for over 23 years. He has vast experience in lower limb orthopaedic surgery.

Mr Garg has performed over 240 Ankle Replacements and is the senior most practicing Ankle Replacement surgeon not only in North-West but UK.

He specialises and passionate about foot drop surgery which can be life changing. Patients can walk without foot drop splint or modified shoes.

Mr Garg has delivered plenary and expert guest lectures on Ankle Replacement in the UK and abroad. As a faculty trainer in Ankle Replacement Training Courses/ conferences/ regional meetings and live surgery, he has trained a number of national and international surgeons including colleagues and several visiting surgeons at Westmorland General Hospital (Centre of Clinical Excellence for Ankle Replacement). He is considered a national and international expert on Ankle replacement.

He has performed over 1000 Hip and Knee replacements. He is very experienced lower limb joint replacement surgeon.

Shash offers consultations for a number of complaints including hip, knee arthritis, Foot & Ankle - Sport injuries, ligament, tendon reconstruction, Bunion Surgery, fusion big toe, Toe Joint replacement and complex reconstruction of high arch (cavus), collapsed arch (flat) foot.

Mr Garg is specialist in reconstruction surgery for foot drop following major injuries or as a complication of spine, pelvis, hip or knee replacement surgery. Most of these patients, after surgery, can walk without foot drop splint or special shoe even though reconstruction surgery was performed 15 years later!

Mr Garg is involved in research: published several papers in scientific journals. His topic of special interests are - Ankle replacement, Toe joint replacement, fusion of big toe, bunion surgery, correction of flat foot (collapsed arch), high arch, sports injury related foot and ankle surgery such as ligament reconstruction, peroneal tendon dislocation and Achilles tendon problems, plantar fasciitis and metatarsalgia including Morton's neuroma.

He enjoys fell walking, running, table tennis, traveling, photography, reading and keeping fit by healthy diet & fitness training. Above all he loves spending time with family and friends.
