Mr Shashank Gurjar is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgery for bowel cancer (colon and rectum), IBD (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and surgical treatment of diverticular disease. Mr Gurjar qualified from St Mary’s Hospital, London medical school in 1997 and received basic surgical training at King’s College, London. Mr Gurjar has also completed training by undertaking a senior post-CCT fellowship in Pelvic Floor surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and received specialist training in colorectal surgery in the South-East Thames region.
He is a fully trained general surgeon and advanced colorectal surgeon, offering expertise in open and laparoscopic (keyhole) bowel cancer surgery, surgery for inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, laparoscopic hernia repair (groin, abdominal, incisional), dealing with all aspects of coloproctology including piles, fissures and fistula.
Mr Shashank Gurjar is an accredited endoscopist (colonoscopy and removal of polyps) and received specialist training in pelvic floor dysfunction offering patients surgery for rectal prolapse and effective management of evacuatory disorders. Mr Gurjar has an active research interest in clinical surgery and pelvic floor dysfunction, with published papers in peer-reviewed journals. Mr Gurjar has also completed academic research at the Royal Free Hospital & at University College, London.
