Dr Shanthini Ravindran is an experienced and compassionate Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist focus on Developmental Paediatrics. With over a decade of consultant-level experience in developmental paediatric services within the UK, she has developed expertise in the assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental conditions, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, dyspraxia and special educational needs. Her career reflects a sustained commitment to clinical excellence, service quality, safeguarding, and multidisciplinary collaboration within NHS practice.
Dr Ravindran graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She subsequently undertook paediatric training both overseas and in the United Kingdom, progressing through SHO, middle grade, and higher specialist training posts in paediatrics, neonatology and community paediatrics. She was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and, in recognition of her senior contribution to paediatrics, was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH). To complement her clinical leadership skills, she completed an MBA in the UK, strengthening her expertise in strategic planning, service development, and organisational leadership.
She has extensive experience in conducting comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments in children age 5 years and under, including structured autism diagnostic evaluations using ADI-R and 3Di tools, and reviewing ADOS assessments as part of multidisciplinary diagnostic pathways. She is skilled in taking detailed developmental histories and providing clear, supportive feedback to families following assessment.
Dr Ravindran works closely with speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists and education professionals to ensure holistic and child-centred care. Her approach combines diagnostic rigour with empathy, recognising the importance of family engagement throughout the assessment and management process. Her professional goal is to ensure children with neurodevelopmental conditions receive the highest quality care.
