Mr Rajkumar is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. He has been working as a Consultant for the last 11 years, holds a honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer post at University of Glasgow and has been appointed as College Tutor for Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow.

Mr Rajkumar specialises in lower limb surgery of hip and knee including primary & revision hip replacement surgery, ceramic bearing joint surgery and total/partial knee replacement surgery. His expertise also covers knee arthroscopic surgery and cartilage preservation surgery. He advises on the investigation and non-operative management of lower back pain and sciatica. His trauma practice covers a wide spectrum of both upper and lower limb trauma surgery and complex peri-articular fracture surgery.

He graduated from University of Madras, India, in 1992 and undertook hip postgraduate training in Orthopaedics in India leading to PG degree in Orthopaedics. He subsequently trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the UK leading to a FRCS-Trauma & Orthopaedics degree. He completed a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty surgery (primary/revision) and ACL reconstruction/arthroscopic knee surgery in Reading, UK.

He has worked as a consultant in trauma and orthopaedics since 2010 in the UK, including Wrightington Hospital - Centre of Excellence for joint replacement surgery - before moving over to Scotland. He was the Lead for quality improvement in trauma & orthopaedic surgery, spearheading day surgery arthroplasty and cartilage preservation surgery for the knee in his previous hospital.

Mr Rajkumar has published in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for a number of medical journals including JBJS (BJJ). He is a Consulting Editor for three peer-reviewed international orthopaedic and surgery journals. He has vast experience in research having conducted a RCT study and multi-centre trials in the UK and Europe. He is currently involved as a researcher in a qualitative prospective study looking at shared decision making in major surgery with Oxford University, funded by the National Institute for Health Research.

He presents regularly both nationally and internationally and has been invited to lecture and examine for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and orthopaedic trainees. He is a faculty member for Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow, for training and development and Academy of Clinical Educators, RCPS, Glasgow.
