Mr Aaron Ng is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in corneal and external eye disease, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery. He works full-time at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
He holds the Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery (Cert LRS) from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is accredited to perform both laser and lens-based refractive procedures. He regularly carries out complex cataract and refractive surgery, including treatment for astigmatism, patients with previous corneal transplants, and those requiring advanced lens replacement procedures. He also offers premium intraocular lenses to help restore and improve vision.
Mr Ng treats a wide range of corneal and ocular surface conditions. These include corneal infections and scarring, Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy, keratoconus, dry eye disease, ocular surface inflammation, and pterygium.
He performs both full-thickness (penetrating) and partial-thickness (lamellar) corneal transplants. He also undertakes collagen cross-linking for keratoconus and surgery for pterygium.
He completed his medical degree at King’s College London and undertook his early medical and surgical training across London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, and Boston in the United States. He completed his specialist ophthalmology training within the West Midlands School of Ophthalmology.
He then completed advanced subspecialist training in cornea and external eye disease at several major centres, including University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, and the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre.
Mr Ng has received multiple awards for his work in improving cataract surgery outcomes. These include the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Congress Audit Prize (2016), the AMO Prize for Best Paper at the British Society for Refractive Surgery (2017), and the South Thames Foundation School Audit, Teaching and Portfolio Prizes (2010–2011).
He is actively involved in teaching and training and has experience supervising medical students, optometrists, junior doctors, and senior trainees. He teaches cataract and corneal transplant surgery to visiting international doctors and has also trained advanced nurse practitioners in procedures such as collagen cross-linking for keratoconus.
Mr Ng is a reviewer for the West Midlands Quality Review Service and has published research in leading national and international journals, including Eye, Ophthalmology, and Nature.
He is committed to providing high-quality, personalised eye care, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for each patient through careful assessment and tailored treatment.
He is fully trained in the entire spectrum of adult and paediatric spinal surgery involving deformity, degenerative, trauma, tumour, inflammatory and musculoskeletal presentations.
He is involved in the treatment of all aspects of spinal presentations including degenerative neck and back pain, radiating arm and leg pain, slipped discs, compressive pathologies requiring decompression and fusion, slipped vertebrae, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis and kyphosis.
He understands that every person is unique and treats every presentation uniquely.
