Mr Malik is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon whose main practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital. He also works at Worcester Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, and Kidderminster Hospital & Treatment Centre.
His specialist interests include all aspects of shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery, with a strong focus on sports injuries, arthroscopy, and complex soft tissue reconstruction.
Mr Malik graduated in Medicine from Cardiff University in 2007, following an earlier BSc (Hons) from St George’s, University of London. He completed his foundation training in London at the North Thames Foundation School before moving to Birmingham for higher specialist training on the prestigious Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme (BOTP).
During his specialist training, he gained extensive experience across leading hospitals in the West Midlands, including City & Sandwell, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, University Hospital Birmingham, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Worcester Royal Hospital, and Russells Hall Hospital. He passed the Royal College of Surgeons of England Fellowship examination in 2017 and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2018.
Following completion of his training, Mr Malik undertook over 2.5 years of advanced fellowship training in sports and upper limb surgery. This included a fellowship at the Arthroscopy Unit at Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham, followed by a year at the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg, Canada, where he trained under Professor Peter MacDonald and Dr Jamie Dubberley in sports surgery, upper limb reconstruction, and complex knee ligament reconstruction.
He later completed the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship in Australia with Mr Peter D’Alessandro, focusing on advanced shoulder surgery, upper limb procedures, and multi-ligament knee reconstruction. He also completed a three-month trauma fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth before returning to the UK.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Malik has taken on significant educational leadership roles. He was appointed Training Programme Director for Core Surgical Trainees in Health Education England West Midlands early in his consultant career and remains actively involved in surgical education. He also teaches on FRCS (Tr & Orth) courses and other national orthopaedic training programmes.
