Mr Raja is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the management of hand, wrist, and forearm conditions. He works as a substantive consultant in the NHS at London Northwest Hospitals Trust.
He graduated from Bart’s & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2008. His specialist training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery was undertaken on the Royal London training programme. Having trained at leading NHS institutions including the Royal London Hospital, University College London Hospitals, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital he gained experience in the management of major trauma and delivering tertiary specialist care.
Achieving a Master’s degree in sports medicine, exercise and health at University College London allows a greater insight into the unique care involved in treating and rehabilitating athletes and those with greater demands on their manual dexterity.
In August 2019 Mr Raja continued his specialisation after being selected for the highly sought-after Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowship at the Brisbane Hand and Upper Limb Research Institute.
As an NHS consultant he provides acute and emergency care to both adults and children while managing chronic disorders of the hand, wrist, and forearm. He considers teaching an integral part of his daily practice, educating colleagues and medical students, not forgetting that teaching also involves interaction with allied healthcare professionals and patient education. He is a member of faculty on orthopaedic examination courses and has organised annual academic meetings for London based orthopaedic surgeons.
Mr Raja continues his professional development through active participation in instructional courses and workshops keeping up to date with evolving techniques and implants. He has presented at international and national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.
