Dr Jayaseelan holds full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and engages in regular annual appraisal and revalidation, demonstrating his commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards. His clinical training in Anaesthesia and Pain Management was undertaken across several highly regarded UK deaneries, including the East Midlands, Glasgow, and Mersey regions. This broad training base enabled him to gain experience in diverse clinical environments and develop a comprehensive understanding of both acute and chronic pain management.
As part of his specialist development, Dr Jayaseelan completed two prestigious fellowships in pain medicine. The first was at the National Refractory Angina Centre in Liverpool, where he gained expertise in managing complex cardiac‑related pain syndromes. The second was at The Walton Centre, one of the UK’s leading neuroscience hospitals, where he advanced his skills in interventional and multidisciplinary approaches to pain management. These fellowships provided him with extensive experience in treating patients with complex, persistent pain and enhanced his ability to deliver highly specialised procedures.
Dr Jayaseelan is recognised nationally for his academic and clinical achievements. He is among the first pain specialists in the UK to obtain the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine by Examination (FFPMRCA)—the highest assessment standard for UK pain consultants. He has also been awarded the Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) qualification by the World Institute of Pain, reflecting his expertise in advanced interventional techniques. In addition, he holds fellowship qualifications by examination in anaesthesia from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in the UK and the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland (FCARCSI).
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Jayaseelan maintains a significant academic and teaching portfolio. He serves as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and examines final‑year medical students within the MBChB programme. His commitment to education extends further: he has been an Advanced Life Support Instructor since 2015 and regularly teaches and examines candidates on national courses. He is also an author within the Pain Management e‑learning programme developed by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, contributing to national training resources for clinicians.
Dr Jayaseelan also examines for key national and international pain examinations, including the Faculty of Pain Medicine exam at the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Diploma of Pain Medicine for the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia. His involvement in these programmes highlights his reputation as an expert in both the practical and theoretical aspects of pain medicine.
Dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled, Dr Jayaseelan remains deeply committed to improving the lives of patients living with persistent pain. His work combines evidence‑based practice, advanced interventional techniques, and a patient‑centred approach aimed at restoring comfort, function, and quality of life.
