Dr Narat took up the consultant post in NHS at Hammersmith Hospital, West London in 2005. Moving to Worthing Hospital in 2006, he has been a consultant haematologist there for the past 12 years.
Over the years, training junior doctors has become of great interest to him at his hospital, adopting an educational and clinical supervisory role. Dr Narat takes a keen interest in training medical students from Brighton and Sussex Medical school. His current passion includes training nurses to manage malignant haematological conditions including blood transfusion.
He is the Haematological Cancer Clinical Lead in my hospital and co-chair of West Sussex Haematological Cancer Multidisciplinary Meetings. Clinical research is his passion and he is principal investigator of a number of clinical trials in haematological malignancies for the NHS Trust. As the Clinical Lead for Blood Transfusion for the Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Narat takes an active interest in reducing the dependency on blood transfusion by encouraging alternative measures.
