About Professor Sanjiv Jari

Personal Profile

Professor Sanjiv Jari is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Surgeon with a strong commitment to combining clinical excellence, innovation, and education. He is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally on knee surgery and sports injuries.

What distinguishes his practice is a dual focus on treating all patients from elite athletes to patients with degenerative joint conditions, using the same advanced, evidence-based techniques. His aim is to preserve the natural joint wherever possible, restore function efficiently, and tailor every treatment plan to the individual’s lifestyle and goals.

Treatments Tailored to Your Knee

Whether you are struggling with knee pain, an injury, or have been told you need surgery, Professor Jari offers a comprehensive range of the most advanced treatments available — chosen specifically to give you the best possible outcome and get you back to doing what matters most.

  • Teating Arthritis Without Surgery — For patients with arthritic or degenerative knee pain, n-STRIDE injections are an advanced regenerative therapy that uses your body's own natural healing proteins to reduce pain, support joint health and return to your activities — a modern alternative to simply managing your pain.
  • The Most Advanced Knee Replacement Technique Available — MAKO Robotic Surgery — Your knee replacement will be undertaken using the MAKO robotic-assisted system, the most precise technology currently available. As the first surgeon to perform this procedure in the North-West, Professor Jari uses this innovation to potentially deliver less invasive surgery, less scarring, faster recovery, and a knee replacement that should last you longer.
  • Keyhole Surgery for Cartilage Problems — For conditions such as meniscal (cartilage) tears, Professor Jari performs minimally invasive keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery using small incisions and a tiny camera, minimising tissue disruption and supporting a faster, smoother recovery.
  • Complex Knee Ligament Reconstruction — Including ACL reconstruction, restoring stability and protecting your long-term joint health. Professor Jari uses the Bone-Patellar Tendon-Bone (BPTB) graft — widely regarded as the gold standard, including for elite athletes.
  • Rehabilitation: The Essential Part of Your Recovery — Rehabilitation following any treatments are an important part of your recovery. With specified and enhanced rehab techniques together with liaising with your physiotherapists, will aid your return to function.

This range of options allows Professor Jari to provide truly personalised arthritis care, from early-stage management through to joint replacement where necessary.

Professor Jari holds academic roles as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at the University of Manchester and Honorary Clinical Professor at the University of Central Lancashire.
