About Mr Sanat Shah

Personal Profile

Mr Shah has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Manchester Foundation Trust since 2003. He has undergone extensive training in India and Southampton, and underwent sub-specialty training in Hip and Knee in Manchester and Southampton. Mr Shah has visited various centres around the world to learn new techniques. 

Mr Shah specialises in hip and knee surgery, and performs primary as well as revision hip and knee replacement, hip and knee arthroscopy and offers robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement. He also performs partial knee replacement and provides tertiary treatment service for patients with bleeding disorder, rheumatological conditions, sickle cell disease and hip arthritis in young adults.

Patient satisfaction and quality of care is at the centre of Mr Shah's practice; he involves patients in all decisions about their treatment and aims to deliver consistently outstanding results. 

Mr Shah is regularly involved in research and audit; he regularly collects outcome data and submits data to national joint registry. He was awarded AO Fellowship in 1996.

Mr Shah also uses The VELYS™ surgical system. This is an innovative robotic tool that aids the consultant during the knee replacement surgery, allowing for greater accuracy and precision that isn’t possible with traditional knee replacement techniques. 

Mr Shah is extensively involved in teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate students at Manchester University. He received North West School of Surgery Certificate of Excellence in Education in 2018.
