Dr Sakura Hingley is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist background in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She currently practises as a Consultant in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and provides private general paediatric consultations for infants, children, and young people in Windsor. She is known for her calm, thoughtful approach and her commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care tailored to each child and family.
Dr Hingley has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of general paediatric conditions. She regularly supports families with common childhood illnesses including infections, fevers, respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms, feeding difficulties, allergies, and skin conditions. Her specialist training in acute and emergency paediatrics allows her to confidently assess unwell children, recognise when escalation or further investigation is required, and provide clear reassurance and guidance when symptoms can be safely managed at home.
With a strong background in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine, Dr Hingley has a particular interest in the assessment and management of paediatric minor injuries and sports-related conditions. She has extensive experience managing soft tissue injuries, sprains, fractures, overuse injuries, and musculoskeletal concerns, supporting active children and adolescents to recover safely and return to sport and physical activity with confidence.
Alongside her private practice, Dr Hingley holds a senior NHS role as Service Lead for Acute Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This role ensures she remains clinically current and actively involved in the care of children presenting with complex, urgent, or undifferentiated conditions, with a strong focus on patient safety, clinical governance, and high-quality family-centred care.
She is also the Chelsea and Westminster site Medical Lead for a hospital-at-home service, enabling children to receive nurse-led assessment and treatment in their own homes where appropriate, with full consultant oversight. This innovative model allows children to remain in a familiar environment while receiving high-quality medical care, supported by clear management plans and safety-netting advice.
Education and communication are central to Dr Hingley’s practice. She has many years of experience supervising and mentoring paediatric and emergency medicine trainees and advanced nurse practitioners and is recognised for her approachable manner and clear, sensitive communication style.
Dr Hingley is fluent in English and Japanese, conversational in German, and experienced in caring for families from diverse cultural backgrounds. Outside of medicine, she is a keen long-distance runner and open water swimmer, interests that further inform her holistic understanding of physical health, resilience, and recovery across all ages.
As a mother of three young children, she offers empathy, continuity, reassurance, and practical guidance throughout childhood.
