Personal Profile

Mr Rupesh I Bhatt comes from Four Oaks Sutton Coldfield, studied at King Edward’s School, Edgbaston and received his masters degree and medical training at Cambridge University. Having trained in London and Birmingham, he finished his senior uro-oncology training at the Christie Hospital, Manchester with Professor Noel W Clarke. He completed a fellowship in laparoscopic uro-oncology in Melbourne, Australia before taking up a position as Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham in 2006.

Rupesh has a doctorate in prostate cancer stem cells, is well published and has been awarded multiple awards, as well as research grants topping £70 000. He has made several national and international presentations. Rupesh sits on several national committees and is actively involved in research. He recently helped draft the national guidelines on surgery during the COVID pandemic.

Rupesh specialises in all aspects of uro-oncology and laparoscopic urology with a large tertiary referral practice from the whole of the Birmingham area as well as Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and beyond.

His urological surgery includes, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and circumcision.

Rupesh is a nationally recognised kidney cancer surgeon and his skills were showcased in the recent hit BBC TV series “Surgeons: At the Edge of Life: Last Chance Saloon” (Series 1, Episode 2).

He is frequently asked by his colleagues, to take on the most difficult and challenging cases from all over the UK. Rupesh is often called upon to give second opinions and patients come from around the country to consult him.

His urological surgery includes core urology, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and circumcision.
