About Dr Robin Taylor

Personal Profile

Dr Robin Taylor is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist whose main private practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital and Priory Hospital Birmingham. He also works within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, where he was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in March 2016.

He provides comprehensive care for all aspects of general cardiology. This includes the assessment and treatment of patients with chest pain, palpitations, fainting episodes, breathlessness, heart murmurs, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. His approach is focused on careful assessment, clear communication, and patient-centred care.

Dr Taylor has a specialist interest in heart failure and leads heart failure services across the county. In this role, he focuses on improving diagnosis, treatment pathways, and long-term management for patients living with complex and ongoing cardiac conditions.

He also has a strong clinical focus on heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias). This includes assessing and managing patients who require cardiac rhythm monitoring and treatment. He is an active member of the British Heart Rhythm Society and is accredited in the implantation and follow-up of pacemakers.

Dr Taylor graduated in Medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2001. He completed his specialist cardiology training across leading centres in Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and London, gaining broad experience in advanced cardiac care.

He later returned to the University of Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to complete a doctorate. His research focused on how emerging cardiac imaging techniques can improve outcomes for patients with pacemakers.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Taylor remains actively involved in research, with ongoing publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He also plays a key role in medical education and training and serves on a specialist committee responsible for overseeing cardiology training across the West Midlands.

Through his NHS and private practice, Dr Taylor provides expert, modern cardiology care, combining clinical experience with the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment to support the best possible outcomes for his patients.
