About Dr Robert Weeks

Personal Profile

Dr Weeks works in Central and SE London as a Consultant Neurologist. He is currently the Clinical Director of the Neurology and Stroke Department at King’s College Hospital, where he has worked for over 20 years.

Dr Weeks completed his medical degree at the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1989, before moving to London. He then went on to complete training in many of the major neuroscience centres in London, including Hammersmith Hospital, National Hospital for Neurology and Royal Free Hospital. He also completed imaging research at the Hammersmith Hospital, before being awarded a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences by Imperial College, London. This was followed by a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Health, USA looking at brain recovery. Dr Weeks became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1992, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2005.

In June 2001, Dr Weeks was appointed as a substantive NHS Consultant in the Regional Neuroscience Centre at King’s College Hospital. Following this, in 2012, he was appointed as the Lead Clinician for Stroke at King’s College Hospital. Dr Weeks was instrumental in setting up the Hyperacute Stroke Service at King’s and more recently creating a comprehensive stroke service at King’s with the development of 24/7 stroke thrombectomy service.

In 2020 Dr Weeks was appointed as Clinic Director for Neurology and Stroke and led the department through the difficult early phases of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Dr Weeks has a wealth of clinical experience of Neurological Disease, and his speciality areas are; Cerebrovascular Disease (stroke) and Emergency Neurology and Movement Disorders. He also has an interest in Headaches and Facial Pain.
