Mr. Moverley provides a comprehensive shoulder and elbow service to the population of East Dorset. He graduated from medical school in 2008, and subsequently completed junior doctor roles in some of London’s most prestigious hospitals, and undertook a six-year higher surgical training program learning from some of the most respected surgeons in the country. He spent ten years training, under a succession of renowned surgeons, with the singular focus of becoming an expert shoulder and elbow surgeon. He has visited international centres of excellence to ensure the care he provides remains on the cutting edge.

He undertook a year-long fellowship at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital focussing on arthroscopic shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement, and trauma. He completed his training with a 6-month post in a highly specialised elbow practice, gaining experience in cutting-edge techniques in the treatment of elbow trauma, instability, and arthritis.

Mr. Moverley became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2017 and remains an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. Both during his training and since becoming a consultant Rob has been active in clinical research and academia. He has published international papers and attends scientific meetings all around the world.

Mr. Moverley's special interests include upper limb trauma, complex sports shoulder, and elbow surgery. He has an interest in developing novel techniques of arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, including management of shoulder instability and irreparable rotator cuff tears.

Mr. Moverley has in-depth experience of shoulder replacement in all age groups and uses the latest 3-D CT planning technology and the best performing implants to maximise patients’ function and quality of life. His mission is to provide his patients with cutting-edge, evidence-based treatments in a friendly and accessible manner. Both his patients and peers have frequently praised Rob for his clarity of communication and the high level of service delivered by his team.

He relocated to Poole in 2020 with his young family, to take up his role as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospitals Dorset with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery.
Mr. Moverley remains a keen footballer and cyclist as well as enjoying skiing, golf, and learning to kitesurf. Having sustained many serious sports injuries he has a passion for returning patients to their maximum level of physical function possible. He combines his passion for orthopaedic and sports as the attending trauma surgeon for the Abu-Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
