Mr Robert Duthie is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in both lower limb joint replacements and hand surgery. This gives him broad experience across many areas of elective orthopaedics, especially:

  • Primary hip and knee replacements
  • Complex revision hip reconstruction
  • Common hand conditions
Mr Duthie now works exclusively at Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen. Before this, he spent 17 years at Woodend Hospital, where he built a strong reputation for his expertise.

He often receives referrals from other surgeons outside Aberdeen, particularly for complex hip cases. His advanced training includes a specialist Fellowship in lower limb reconstructive surgery, which he completed in Adelaide, South Australia in 2000–2001. He returned to Aberdeen in 2001 to take up his Consultant role.

During his time in Adelaide, Mr Duthie worked in a high-volume centre treating a wide range of hip and knee problems, both routine and complex. Alongside his work with lower limbs, he also treats many common hand conditions such as Dupuytren’s contracture, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and thumb arthritis.
