About Mr Rob Gray

Personal Profile

Rob Gray is a consultant urological surgeon. He is appointed at both Buckinghamshire and Oxford University Hospitals in his NHS role. He qualified in medicine and surgery with honours in 2008 and trained in Bristol, Oxford and London before taking a substantive consultant post in Buckinghamshire.

He undertook surgical training in the Oxford region before transferring to London (after ranking in the top three trainees in the country for urology via National Selection) to complete his subspecialist training with training posts at Kings College Hospital, St George's hospital, Epsom and St Helier and latterly Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in London as a senior registrar with a particular focus on kidney cancer surgery, stone and laser prostate surgery.

Rob has a very high volume laser prostate surgery practice (Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate - HoLEP) which offers excellent outcomes for men with all sizes of prostate performing ~100 surgeries per year, robotic kidney surgery (~100 surgeries per year) and urinary stone practice. In his NHS role he works between Wycombe and the Churchill hospital Oxford to carry out the bulk of his NHS surgery.

He is an active member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Urology Section to ensure he is up to date. His research profile is available to view at Researchgate, his outcomes and case volume can be viewed on the Private Healthcare Information Network website (PHIN).

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his three young children, running (5K), strategy games, tinkering with his classic car and motorbike and trips to Italy.

Rob has a subspecialist interest in the management of kidney cancer, PUJ obstruction, kidney stones and prostate enlargement. He regularly performs robotic and laparoscopic (key-hole) nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy and pyeloplasty. He offers a comprehensive surgical stone service including flexible ureterorenoscopy (telescopic laser surgery), laser lithotripsy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy including mini-PCNL (keyhole kidney surgery).

Throughout his training he has maintained a broad interest in general urology and looks to provide the highest possible standard of care for common urological conditions including hydrocele repair, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal, prostatitis, epididymal cyst excision, circumcision, treatment and surgery for varicoceles including keyhole repair.

The bulk of any urologists practice is prostate surgery and Rob offers a range of surgical procedures to suit the individual including Holmium enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), Greenlight laser prostatectomy, Urolift, bipolar and monopolar TURP.

Rob takes an interest in the assessment and management of patients with visible blood in the urine and patients with prostatitis, recurrent urinary tract infection and bothersome urinary symptoms, much of which can be managed with the right medications and advice.
