Personal Profile

Dr Shah was appointed as a Consultant in HIV and Genitourinary medicine at the Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital in 2005, having trained in GUM/ HIV medicine at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals.

Her clinical practice includes:

  • STI screening and management: testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, genital warts, thrush/BV, and herpes.
  • Complex GUM (genitourinary medicine) problems: care for recurrent discharge, erectile dysfunction, prostatitis/NSU, vulvodynia, and vestibulitis.
  • HIV management: comprehensive care and management for individuals living with HIV.

She is Lead Clinician for HIV (Barnet site) and Head of Services.

Her specialist and research interests are in Women’s health, particularly in the management of recurrent vaginal infections, and in the antenatal care of women with blood bourne viruses/STIs, including HIV. She is Antenatal Lead for blood bourne viruses (Barnet site).

She is happy to see private patients when they need to be seen, including evenings and weekends and offers a completely confidential and culturally sensitive service.

  • Hepatitis vaccination: for Hepatitis A and B.
  • Genital dermatology: diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions affecting the genital area.
