Working as a Hip and Knee Consultant Surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, Mr Westerman has a specialist interest in complex and revision hip replacement surgery.
He went to medical school at the University of Birmingham in 1996. He joined the Armed Forces, completed commando training and gained the prestigious 'Green Beret', before working as a medical officer for a Royal Marine Commando Unit.
He returned to the West Midlands for Basic Surgical Training, working at Selly Oak and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
He undertook the majority of his specialist Orthopaedic training in Nottingham and Derby before moving to the world renowned Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter for fellowship training.
He has gained additional experience travelling to United States and Canada.
He now teaches surgeons on many courses nationally and internationally.
