During this period, Dr Keld worked at 7 North West and Manchester University Hospitals, having acquired comprehensive experience dealing with all aspects of general internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr Keld was awarded a post-graduate degree in the Department of Medicine and Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester for his work investigating the molecular biology and genetics of oesophageal and gastric cancer and Barrett’s oesophagus (2007 – 2009). This research has led to 12 publications in medical journals and presentations at regional, national and international conferences. In addition, he has published work on coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, gastroparesis, endoscopic ultrasound and diabetes. This has enhanced his clinical competence and expertise in the speciality. Dr Keld continues to be involved in clinical research in his current role as Primary Investigator on over 10 clinical trials and he is a peer reviewer for international medical journals.
Dr Keld is heavily involved in clinical audit and strives to improve patient services and experience. He teaches at a national level, physician membership examinations and colonoscopy training. Recently he has been appointed as the Clinical Lead in Gastroenterology and he is also the Clinical Lead for Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer services in Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh.
