In his NHS practice, Mr Husicka is a key member of the onco-gynaecology multidisciplinary team. He conducts regular clinics for rapid access and postmenopausal bleeding, performs hundreds of hysteroscopic procedures annually, and has extensive experience in both open and laparoscopic surgeries.
Mr Husicka works closely with other specialists at Werndale Hospital to ensure seamless and comprehensive care. He collaborates with anaesthetists and other clinicians to assess and mitigate risks for patients with complex needs, prioritising safety and accelerating recovery.
In addition to treating his own patients, Mr Husicka accepts referrals from fellow clinicians, emphasising teamwork and a multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best outcomes.
Mr Husicka graduated as a Doctor of Medicine (MUDr) from Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, in 1994. He completed Board I certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, equivalent to MRCOG I, in 1997, followed by Board II certification in 2001, equivalent to MRCOG II and CCST.
His early training was at Masaryk University Hospital, home to the largest maternity unit in the Czech Republic. There, he gained experience in general gynaecology, oncology, fertility treatment, and ultrasound. As Labour Ward Lead in a tertiary obstetric unit, he developed advanced leadership and clinical skills.
Between 2007 and 2009, Mr Husicka worked at Great Western Hospital in Swindon before moving to Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, part of Imperial College London. There, he developed specialised expertise in early pregnancy scanning and ovarian tumour assessments.
Since 2011, Mr Husicka has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. In 2016, he began his private practice at Werndale Hospital, bringing his extensive experience to local patients.
Mr Husicka’s commitment to advancing gynaecological care extends to research and publications. He has contributed to numerous studies, including the prestigious IOTA 4 trial, which evaluates referral patterns and the cost-effectiveness of diagnosing adnexal masses.
His published work spans topics like pregnancy of unknown location, early pregnancy growth, and the impact of BMI on foetal size. He has authored over a dozen articles, covering areas such as bacterial vaginosis, postoperative complications, and innovative treatments in gynaecology.
When not working, Mr Husicka enjoys staying active and building his fitness and resilience. A keen cyclist, he finds joy in tackling Pembrokeshire's challenging hills, which reward him with breathtaking views. On rainy days, he turns his attention to the kitchen, where he takes pride in his culinary skills, especially baking what he confidently calls the best sourdough bread in the region.
