Richard Dobrashian is a Consultant Radiologist with over 20 years’ experience in all types of diagnostic radiology. His specialist interest is in breast imaging and has been director of breast screening for East Lancashire from 2008-2015 and regional breast QA radiologist from 2014-2016. He has a keen interest in musculoskeletal imaging, including sports medicine, and frequently images players from local professional football teams. He also performs specialist hepatobiliary radiology and all types of oncological imaging. Currently he reports dementia scans for East Lancashire and is the only local radiologist to do this.
He is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Salford and Advisory Editor for Clinical Radiology journal.
Training and Appointment:
Dr Dobrashian graduated from the University of Manchester in 1992 and completed his General medical and radiology training in the North West of England, obtaining FRCR (London) in 1998. He has been a Consultant Radiologist for East Lancashire Hospital NHS Trust since 2000 and an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford since 2010.
Current practice:
Dr Dobrashian is a full time Consultant Radiologist having spent over 2 decades working in a large regional District General hospital. He routinely performs all types of diagnostic and interventional breast imaging inclusive of newer techniques such as digital breast tomosynthesis, Breast MRI and specialist magseed breast localisation procedures. As a breast screening radiologist, he reads in excess of 5000 mammograms per year and participates in the PERFORMS national test of breast screening film reading ability. He also routinely reports all forms of diagnostic CT, MRI and plain x rays and routinely performs all types of diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
His dementia scan imaging see’s him report in excess of 500 brain CT’s and MRI’s per year using a specialised reporting lexicon enabling the memory clinic physicians to prescribe important dementia medication where appropriate under NICE guidelines.
